Tickled Pink

According to color authority, Pantone, the new hue for 2011 is an intense pink called “honeysuckle.” A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting.    It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life. It is the color of the honeysuckle flower blossoms for which it was named and is what attracts humming birds to the nectar.

A flattering hue for wedding attendant apparel and accessories, Honeysuckle is now one of the nearly 200 PANTONE WEDDING Colors available from Dessy, a leading manufacturer of bridesmaid, social-occasion and flower-girl dresses. PANTONE WEDDING exclusively from Dessy provides a collection of color tools to make it easy for brides to achieve perfectly color-coordinated weddings – from inspiration to “I do.” See www.dessy.com for more information.

The Happy Marriage

An article came out yesterday in the NY Times called “The Happy Marriage is the Me Marriage”. I ‘ve been married for almost 9 years and I understand that marriage is an adventure and you have to constantly work at making it better. My husband and I attend a yearly marriage workshop and we read books on marriage and communication when a good book is recommended to us. It is normal for marriages to be hard. Even the best marriages.  To all our wedding clients and newly engaged clients…it can be done and it is so worth it!  ~ XOXO, Mandy

Chocolate Treats

I love chocolate!  Most people don’t know that I have a secret stash of chocolates which I hide from my husband so that I can selfishy steal a little piece of heaven…sometimes on a daily basis. Some of my favorites are dark chocolate truffles from Godiva (of course!) and Sweet Shop USA. Sweet Shop USA has these huge truffles and we give them as gifts and also encourage our clients to give them as gifts/favors because they are a pure delight! I know one of our favorite Dallas florists, Urban Blossom, carries the Sweet Shop chocolates in their studio and boutique in Addison.

For a more expensive indulgence, try Anna Shea Chocolates.  They are jewel-like pieces of chocolate that are meticulously handcrafted and designed.  Their unique designs and flavor combinations will transport you to places no ordinary chocolate has taken you before. They are “almost” too pretty to eat.

So, indulge a little and enjoy life ~ Mandy

The spring 2008 issue of the The Knot featured one of Event Studio’s weddings. Amy Bartosik and Brant Wilson were married on a beautiful fall day in Kansas City. Amy chose apple green and chocolate brown as her color scheme and did an excellent job carrying the “a + b” theme into the details.

Coordinating corporate events and social celebrations allows me to let loose and be truly creative; however, there’s nothing more fulfilling than helping clients design and celebrate a special, meaningful occasion in their life.

KC Weddings 2007 – Personalizing your Wedding

Mandy Phalen, owner of Event Studio, was interviewed by KC Weddings magazine and shared tips on ways to personalize your wedding throughout this 6-page article. “You want something that carries throughout, whether it’s a monogram or a design element (like a snowflake) or even a color,” says Mandy. Don’t stop at printed materials when using your motif. “Lighting is very inexpensive, and it adds a different flair to your ceremony,” says Phalen. “You can cast your monogram or embellishment on the dance floor with a gobo light,” a type of light commonly used to create a pattern. And lighting isn’t limited to projecting motifs. Phalen worked with one couple who had taken an engagement picture that was “very sleek and sexy,” and she projected it on a wall at the reception. “‘That was the feel of their wedding. It’s about thinking outside of the box on some of these things,” she says, noting that using a framed version of the same picture on the guest book table would not have had nearly the same effect.
